India’s transition to a knowledge-based economy requires a new generation of educated and skilled people. Its competitive edge will be determined by its people’s ability to create, share, and use knowledge effectively. A knowledge economy requires India to develop workers – knowledge workers and knowledge technologists - who are flexible and analytical and who can be the driving force for innovation and growth. Innovative public-private partnerships are needed to meet the diverse skill needs of the informal sector – which involves not only training but support services such as assistance with placements, running a small business, marketing and information on technology.

To promote the vocational training at lower level to the school dropouts and existing workers, in pursuance of Ministry of Labour, Skill Development Initiative Scheme (under Directorate General of Apprenticeship & Training), VGS LLP has decided to join the ministry for its noble cause by proposing to conduct professional vocational training programs. The main objective of the program is to provide employable skills to school leavers, existing workers, graduates, etc.

VGS has already been approved as 'Test Centre', by RDAT, Ministry of Labour, Government of India at its two centers in Navi Mumbai and Khopoli, Raigad. The team is currently in the process of registering for the programs and will soon conduct full-fledged class room/practical training programs for semi-skilled and unskilled labor in India.

The modules of courses will be in the following sectors:-

  • Electrical Training (multiple courses)
  • Fabrication (Structure/Pipe/Welding)
  • Information Technology and Computer Fundamentals
  • Computer Hardware & Networking
  • Basic Welding (Gas/Arc)
  • Carpentry/Mason/Plumbing/Tiling/Storekeeper Works

By drawing synergy with our Human Resources division, VGS is in a position not only to impart quality vocational training but also assist students for job placements.
